We added safety measures to protect our staff and customers and following all CDC guidelines.
COVID-19 has had a detrimental impact on not just our community and economy but our loved ones as well. As soon as NYC announced they were going to shut down schools, Brain Food stepped up and offered free meal preps to any student or parent, no questions asked to help ease the effects of school closings. We also reached out to all our local homeless shelters and offered free meals while they figured out their new supply chain and staff obstacles caused by COVID-19.
We know how much our community does for our business so we wanted to make sure we are there for them. Thankfully, we did not see a huge decrease in business after the first week of lockdown, as we were already well-versed in delivery and takeout options.
In efforts to pay our good fortune forward we partnered up with rethinknyc, a nonprofit commissary kitchen that makes meals through various food donations for other nonprofits. Since they closed their own commissary kitchen due to safety guidelines implemented by our governing bodies, Brain Food along with other restaurants stepped up to help fill in the void and prepare these meals for numerous charities and organizations throughout NYC. Since the shutdown on March 15th - June 8th, Brain Food alone has supplied over 30,000 meals. In total, rethinknyc has served over 250,000 meals in this same time with all the partners combined.
Brain Food is not just all about profits and bottom lines, we are on a mission to make eating healthy truly affordable for everyone. We know how to create healthy, cost-effective meals where anyone at any budget can enjoy and appreciate.
